Why grounding helps you more than you know!

Why grounding helps you more than you know!

When I approach people to talk about grounding, I know that most people politely listen, often they don't think it matters much. Those who do ground as part of their lifestyle are dead set that it works!

I try and think about things in different ways to see what might change the minds of those in the middle, those not sure but not completely open to the idea.

This perspective is inspired by a true story! I am a mom; I have had 4 children naturally and 2 that joined the family through my spouse. All 4 of my children were breastfed until they self-weened or reached nearly 3. I currently still have one nursing. I learned a lot between baby 1 and 4. I have had three with no medical assistance and the 4th was born at home. They are rarely ever sick, even during covid, the most it's a couple of days with fevers and throwing up. My 8-year-old didn't throw up until she was 3 and it scared her because she didn't know what was happening to her.

The point of this story is to tell you that there is absolutely a connection between mothers and babies, how they are taken care of and what methods you use for their care. I have my beliefs and they've proven to be healthier for us. Not everyone will agree or want to do what I chose to do and that is fine.

Regardless of our personal beliefs and choices there is a main point I want to share. Research, science, pediatrics has all supported educating the masses with all the benefits of mother to child touch. The baby is soothed almost instantly by their mother. Not only emotionally, but I'm also talking about physiologically. It has been shown that when a mother holds a baby, the babies blood pressure normalizes, their temperature regulates, and the mother's body actually changes temperature to meet the baby's needs. It helps with digestion, resting, blood flow, cell growth, and brain health.

It is the same with grounding, or as I like to say, getting physically connected to mom. The earth is our home, the earth is where our physical forms come from. The nature of this world is built into us, the air is tailored to us, the seasons are, the temperature, the even energy flowing around us. All of nature is made for the plants, animals, and people to live in and be sustained.

One of the simplest and easiest ways to connect to nature is gardening. There is a reason why this was the first job talked about in scripture. When you spend time outside looking at the soil, feeling, learning to understand it and then planting seeds to grow in it, you can't help but feel this is simply good. You wait and the rains come and go, you watch the flowers bloom on the plants, the pollinators come and help the fruit along, and we harvest delicious nutrient rich foods just outside our home. It is fulfilling and life enriching.

I'm not saying everyone has to garden, but it's always good to give it a try and see what you can do. The bigger point is that by doing it, you are brining your body and mind into harmony with what is natural. It's not fast paced, it's not forced. You can't do anything about how long it takes except wait. Gardening is a learning tool. You may not realize it at first, but the more you are outside, the less stressed you will feel. The more at ease your heart rate will be. The easier it is for you to sleep at night. Maybe, you might even feel downright happy.

This communion with nature supplies us with the nurturing our bodies need just like a mother and her baby. Life is all around us and inside our square boxes sitting in front of our giant lit up rectangles, we can lose the meaning for our being here. Entertainment will only get you so far, eventually, it loses it's luster and you realize that it's draining you instead of making you feel better.

I invite you to do something different. Take up a new hobby, one that makes you go outside. Go for walks, garden, grow flowers in pots, go fishing, go camping, sit by moving water. Just be for a while. See where being still can take you!
